September already?

September already and it’s almost half over! How did that happen?

I guess it happened while I spent my summer gardening and canning. This spring I made the decision to have a real garden this year. And while it didn’t produce as much as I would have liked, it was moderately successful in most things. And for those that weren’t successful at all (potatoes), I know what I did wrong.

But now the last of the homegrown vegetables have been put up in the form of five 1/2 pint jars of shelled beans for soups.

Not many, but enough for a small household for a few batches of soup…..five to be exact!

I have recently picked up my knitting needles again. I’m working on socks right now. I crank tubes like you can find in my Etsy shop, then add afterthought toes, cuffs and heels. I find that way to be the most enjoyable for me as I enjoy hand knitting but vanilla socks can be boring to me to knit.

These three pairs have had toes and cuffs added and are just waiting for the heels to be added. The middle pair is the standard size in my shop.

I’ve also made some progress on my pink cardigan. 70 more rows (7 more pattern repeats) and the back will be completed. This is meant to be an oversize lacy cardigan with drop shoulders.

I’ve also done a bit of quilting, both customer quilts and working on my own UFO’s. This one is Trail Mix and from a workshop our guild had several years ago. I had cut everything out, and then it got buried on the shelf of doom (aka the UFO shelf). I’m determined to work down that shelf of doom this winter!

Hopefully now that the garden season is mainly done, and the nights are getting longer, I’ll have more content to show you. I mean how many times can I post pictures of a tomato or weeds. Although on that note, some areas are out of hand and need desperately to be weeded.

Seeds need harvested before the birds consume them. Especially my zinnias. I loved looking out the kitchen window to these zinnias when they were in their prime.

And my greenstalk planter and greenhouse starts do need attention. I’m trying to do greens for over winter and both are very slow so far

But they are coming along, even if I am a bit impatient for results.

On that note, hopefully it won’t be quite as long before I update again. I’m hoping to have a shop update of fabrics and project bags my next week so look for that too!
