It’s the end of another year and this one went by much faster than last year.
Isn’t it interesting how circumstances and perspective change time, when time doesn’t truly change.
As the holidays come to a close and it’s almost time to undecorate (is that even a word?), I thought I’d share a few finishes and makes that I squeezed in between holiday celebrations and “stuff”.
First up are two cross stitches. The first, the December Calendar Crate by Stitching with the Housewives I started and finished in December. Now usually these take about two weeks of bits and pieces of time. But it was the Christmas season so this took almost four weeks.

And for 2021 I did a “monthly” project that I didn’t actually work on every month. But I did finish within the year. This one is Monthly Markings by Heart in Hand Designs.

And I did a little sewing this week. Not much, but as I had no pattern or directions, I’m pleased with the results.
My default hairstyle is long, in a headband off my face. And my headbands were getting worn out. So in experimentation I made a couple.

I learned a few things, mainly that 1/2” is huge in making headbands. The red one fits perfectly. The correct width and length for me. The blue one is 3/8” wider and 1/2” shorter……and it’s uncomfortable right now. But elastic does stretch with time, so I’m hopeful it will be more comfortable in the future. Both are lined with grosgrain ribbon for smoothness on the hair as the ribbons themselves have metallic thread in them.
My 2022 monthly cross stitch plans, I’ll share them in the next post as I’m still sorting out what project I want to commit to monthly.
My 2022 quilting plans include cleaning up my overflowing UFO and WIP shelf. Some will get finished. Some will find other homes with people who want to work on them. Some are just yardage and pattern pulls and may go back into the fabric shelves.
On the knitting front, the only decision cast so far is that 2022 is a Cold Sheep year for me. In other words, no yarn purchases. Although I do have some pre-ordered that will likely arrive after Jan 1st. And I’m doing private tutoring for knitting. I’m not ready to start classes yet, as time and space need worked out a bit. But I am booking private lessons for those that want a bit of help or are looking to learn.
That’s all for now. I hope everyone has a safe and happy year end and starts off 2022 on a positive note!
Those headbands are great! 🙂 And your cross stitch is lovely 🙂
