Yesterday I took the day off, as much as I am capable of taking the day off. Being as tired as I have been lately, I didn’t want to be up on my feet at the machine all day, so I decided it was a non-longarm day and I’d do other stuff. Looking back over the day, I think I did MORE than if I had spent the day longarming, but my body enjoyed the volume of sitting time.
I started the day working on the Star Crossed commission quilt, I cut out all the pieces for all the blocks:
After doing all the cutting for all the blocks for Star Crossed, I decided I needed to sit for a bit. Anyone who knows me knows I can’t just “sit”, so I popped in an audio book and started working on my next knitting project “Pizzazz Party Shell” from the Winter issue of Love of Knitting:
I’m not using the yarn called for in the pattern, I’m using Boboli from Berrocco as I LOVE the softness and variation of color it has.
Those that know me know I also can NOT sit for long (unless I’m deathly ill), so after a short break I decided I needed to get “productive” again and I moved back to the sewing machine and piece the blocks. I suppose technically that is still sitting, but it doesn’t feel like it. And I managed to get the majority of the 24 Block A’s done for the quilt:
After a supper break, I needed to do something else, so I plunged into washing the Merino locks. Now I’m NOT going to say this is what they are supposed to look like, I may have accidentally agitated them while washing and started to felt them, but I am going to say I enjoyed the process. Watching them turn from a creamy yellow with the lanolin in them to a pure white was an amazing process. And one I will repeat in the future. At this point they’re drying on a rack in the guest bathtub:
Finally I finished off the night, while waiting for the news to come on to monitor the weather, with starting to spin up this braid:
This braid is a Merino/Silk blend from Funhouse Fibers . Funhouse is one of just a few of shops I purchase roving from, and I can say I’ve never been disappointed with a braid from her. She also does custom dyeing of braids if you need something specific!
At the end of the night I had only a wee bit of the first of the two braids of this that I have spun, but it’s a start:
Today, while Snowy sleeps on the spare bed missing his boy who isn’t here this weekend to visit:
I’ll be following Baci’s directive and quilting the next quilt up that’s on the table he’s looking at:
How is it that dog KNOWS when I’ve taken a day off and have quilts to be done. And points me to the work too! ;>)
All in all, I’d say it was a busy day after all…….. even if it was a day OFF!
