A while back I thought I was going to be able to participate in “Design Wall Monday” on Judy L’s blog; and then life threw some unexpected curveballs and I didn’t have anything to show on Mondays!
But this week I am back into the swing of things again (hopefully for a long time!) and have WIP to show!
First up is a small wall hanging I’m working on. This was going to be a piece for a beginning machine applique class, but it turned out to have too many sharp points for that, so instead it will hang in the house for the holidays….someday.
The gold fabric in the bottom corner is a “do I or don’t I?”. The original intention was to miter the borders as a sample for an upcoming workshop. But then the day the borders were cut was a day with a lot of distractions and they weren’t cut to miter, but rather to have cornerstones. The question is, do I add the gold, or recut the borders (I have plenty of fabric) to miter so the entire center just floats on the background? The binding for this will be the gold…. I think…. maybe……
My other WIP/Design Wall project is a long term hand applique project. This is the first in a series of 13 blocks that make up the “Halloween Baltimore Album” quilt.
Finished size of this block, after squaring will be 10″. Some of the tree branches finish to only 1/4″ thick! If I get one block of this a month done, I’ll be extremely happy! Hmmmm….. could that be why it’s marketed as a “block of the month”?!
Sweeeeeet!! I like both of them … a lot; but whooooooooo that sweet owl!!
Very cool projects…especially love the owl!
