A quilt finish!

Finally, I finished a quilt!  It’s been slow going this week, and this quilt had a lot of SID.  Most of the time now, when I SID, I am doing it freehand without a ruler, so it is very slow going and I need to have steady hands.  But it seems to be how I get my best results, and one of the ways I get behind schedule, but willingly for the results.  As usual, custom quilting is a combination of digitized and freehand quilting, whichever is best suited for the parts of the quilt.

First the border:

This was a really cool border print that my customer took the time and care to center on the design.  A pleasure to have the ends line up with the design on all 4 sides!

Next up the blocks, or sashings, or ????  This pattern has caught my eye, it’s a lot of negative space with a twined sashing square, so we quilted it with motifs in the negative space and vines that cross over and under in the sashings:

Per the customers request I have not done heavy backfill.  The designs could support it, but my customer wants to be able to use this on her bed and not have it stiff so we left the quilting looser.

Next up, a small pantograph or two and then next week it’s back to more custom quilting!

  1. I recently used that same fabric on a quilt. It is a pretty choice for these. Yours is great!
