Today’s post will be short, I’m hoping that since the sun has returned and I have natural lighting/shadows, I’ll be able to finish this quilt today. Sometimes the best laid plans of humans get disrupted by nature.
What I wanted to share today is a tip. When I have a design to put into a specific area, but all my colors are blending almost too closely to be seen, I don’t want to “over-run” the area I’m quilting.
As you can see by this photo, the feathers on the diagonal have to appear to go behind the other design to frame the center section.
Since everything is blending together colorwise, and since I need a CLEARLY defined area, I use painters tape to mark the borders where I don’t want to quilt into.
I use the blue painters tape as it leaves no residue, I can re-use it, and it’s relatively cheap (much cheaper than the time invested in removing bad quilting).
Now I’m off to take advantage of the light thrown from this big, bright ball of something in the sky (I think we call it the sun, but it’s been so long, I really don’t remember! LOL)

Thank you for showing the steps you take. It shows us what all is involved and how much time and thought is put into it for us.
