One of my groups is doing a technique exchange. We had to choose a technique that we could use items we had, without buying a lot of supplies, so I chose “fabric paper”. There are lots of different, yet similar, ways to make fabric paper, and I chose to work only with fabric and thread and yarns to make mine (no actual paper involved except the poster board each piece is sewn to).
I’m stil making pieces, this is where I’m attaching instructions to the backs of the pages:
And this is the stack I have left to attach the instructions to:
And just what do you do with fabric paper? Well, I used mine in a little art quilt. Yes, you can stitch through it.
I think next I’ll use it not as the upper layer, but as a base layer on a collage piece.
Judy, can you please – pretty please with a yo-yo on top – do a tutorial for us out here in cyberland on how to make fabric paper? You can do it after you do the exchange cos we wouldn’t want to spoil it for them, would we?? LOL
Wish I lived closer so I could play too…
MICHELLE, I PLAN ON PUTTING ONE UP AFTER THE GROUP EXCHANGE IS DONE. WISH YOU LIVED CLOSER TOO, WE’D HAVE FUN!!!!!
This is spectacular! My 95 year old MIL would just go nuts if she could see your stuff. She is an artist in acrylics and water color only … but loves our quilting. She would just “die” to see your different techniques with different media. If only she had internet (sigh)
Looks and sounds cool! Can’t wait to read your tutorial!
Wow!!! This looks cool please give us more suggestions for use as I do not sew. I have a new sewing machine but no one to teach me how to thread it. Still in box it is a Brothers with tons of different stitches available.
Please please let me know when u do the tutorial..
I just found your blog so am going to go look at your archives.
I think you have a new friend …
