No Matter What

No matter what happens in life, one of my greatest joys is in expressing the stories I feel in various mediums. Painting is one I’ve always loved to watch others do, wanted to do myself, and yet find the greatest frustration in attempting. But I will persevere, no matter what else comes along in life.

This summer I was deeply touched by the fires that raged and a scene started to take shape in my mind. I’m finally working on creating that scene, this is a first step.

The concept here was to be looking out the window, possibly within a stone walled house (?) at fires raging beyond the yard on the far hills. I’m just starting to lay in the ground work for the areas within this painting, the smoke filled sky, the far hill, the yard. Perhaps soon I’ll get to grab a few more stolen hours to work on my passion again.

Hmm, on editing this post, I can see this painting is much more dark than I had anticipated. I wonder how it will turn out in the end?

  1. I remember what I felt like when I dug out my paints recently. What a glorious, indescribable feeling! I’m really looking forward to seeing how this painting evolves.

Also read your post on personal energy, and I’m reminded that I want to do more creating in the new year. I’ve spent so much of my time building my business over the past year and a half, that I’ve lost site of what truly gives me joy; creating. Thanks for the nudge, Judy. 🙂
