This week’s assignment for drawing class was a still life. This time, instead of working in pencil or charcoal in gray scale, we worked with colored pencils. I, of course, being slow, only had my layout done by the end of class. But, I have a good mind for color and in my mind I could see the objects as I was working on the color today.
Lessons learned, transparency is very hard to achieve. That glass bottle was transparent, but it was not round, it was a squared bottle. Even harder to achieve is the illusion of roundness in dark blue and black. Another lesson learned, Prismacolor laid down in the wrong area, or smudged with you hand, is very hard to remove.
Final thoughts:
A colorless blender is a terrific invention, and I could do this all day long!

For some reason, I really like the green bottle…. I like it all but for some reason, I like the color, shape etc of the bottle….
I like that bottle the best too. It has real dimension to it. The whole still life is great, but the bottle has life. I’ve always avoided art classes-had a nun in HS tell me I had no talent.
